Playing a Blues Lick on a Cigar Box Guitar

Playing a Blues Lick on a Cigar Box Guitar

An important part of blues playing are licks; short phrases of notes that sound good together and can be revisited throughout a song or solo. They can help you master new techniques and build your own playing style.

Below is a video lesson on blues licks, and a PDF of a three string and four string tab that you can download.

In the video I will show you a two-bar blues lick that you can use to replace part of the strumming of the G Chord in a 12 bar blues. The G takes up the whole first line and half the second line of the progression, and can feel a bit monotonous. By mixing the lick in with the strumming you can create a more interesting sound and playing experience.
